75 blood results – 41 times ‘okay’. 32 times ‘must do something’. 2 times ‘oh #&%*$’.

Clinic starts:
-help her in or not – I don’t want to patronise
-examination or not – maybe I should
-chaperone or not – running late but I need to
-antibiotics or not – well that’s an unhappy patient
-ask him to leave or not – she’s old enough to be seen alone
-safeguarding or not – Yes I cannot shrug off that feeling
-call an ambulance or not – it may be quicker if she drove
-follow-up or not – just for my piece of mind
-panic or not – I can do this
-intervene or not – is it my place to
-be persistent or not – I need her to do this
-repeat myself or not – did he understand
-is this dodgy or not – I’m not happy
-tell them or not – they need to hear it
-Let him cry or not – his kids are watching
-interrupt or not – I’m running out of time
Urgent call – do I take this or not – I’m sorry can this wait?
-break rapport or not – I have to leave you a patient has collapsed in the waiting room
-call the hospital or not – this needs admission
-follow guidelines or not – this doesn’t fit the mould
-take a loo break or not – no time
-home visit or not – ok well just this time
-sick note or not – yes I think this is warranted
-disapprove or not – it IS my place to say something
-call it out or not – you cannot talk to me like that
-ask for help or not – please can I get a member of staff to sit in with me
-take a breather or not – that was hard but I have 4 more patients to see
-finish my tasks or not – can this wait until tomorrow?
-stay past home time or not – I’ll just quickly finish this last bit off.

What’s for dinner?
Should I read a book?
What time should I go to bed?

Let the decision-making begin.
